METALCAMP 2011 - Thursday (Show day)
Hojo hojo, it's Pasi writing. What a great morning to wake up! Had some breakfast at hotel's restaurant and went for a walk to a river nearby. Now we noticed a huge waterfall in the distance falling from the middle of the mountain maybe few kilometres away. Anyway we decided with Lasse that we will deffinitely go to see that waterfall Boka and so we took a hiking path up to the mountain next to our hotel. Walked for maybe 45 mins up the mountain sweaty as hell...at least 3 times almost given up that maybe we just go back to hotel but still continueing to the edge of the mountain as far as you could go ...the actual waterfall was still maybe 300 meters away but now we could see all of the 106 meters long waterfall and it just looked amazing!
The river nearby our hotel and the waterfall Boka on the background.
Waterfall Boka (106m)
Getting down the waterfall hiking path...
Joonas having cold Lasko by the river.
Well back to hotel and soon we ordered a pick up to the festival.. We arrived to the festival area around 15 o'clock and checked out the mainstage...looks nice! We carried our stuff to the dressing room where we found a fridge full of nice surprises... :D Another nice surprise was when Kai from Wintersun came to say hi to us in our backstage...was so nice seeing him again and later Jari and Teemu also! I think Kai had drink something, hehee :D
Showtime - ready to rumble! Okay the intro is on and we rush on to the stage for the first song Warrior's Heart... öhm Emppu's string got broken from the first note and nope we did not have a spare guitar for that show... Well Emppu manages to change his string pretty quickly but it's already the second song when he comes back! :D What a nice start for a show! Still the weather is so great and it's nice to play for the great audience. Right after Tales of the End we play an old instrumental song full of arpeggios and solos! :D That was nice!
Soon it gets to the point what we all have been waiting for as Michele speaks we gonna play next our new track Ghost in Me which will be released on the 2nd album! The song starts and the audience seem to mosh with it harder than earlier...looks like it's working and hell yea it's great to play it and everything feels great with that song! Then we play 2 last songs Scion of Stars and Shadows and Rain and we're about to faint from the hot weather but all great...nice show...not the best but good one!
The setlist:
Intro
Warrior's Heart
Upon Haunted Battlefields
Morning Lake
Tales of the End
Instrumental Song
Ghost in Me (New track)
Scion of Stars
Shadows and Rain
Outro
So about fridge full of nice surprises ...it's time to uncork them and have fun with the guys of Wintersun, with Rock the Nation guys and a lot of other people!
Metalcamp 2011 - Friday (The final day)
A nice little hangover I'm telling you...well that happens. Joonas calls me to wake up and join him and Emil to the hotel's terrace so me and Lasse joins them for few Laskos but not really tasting at that moment.. We decide to go swimming in the river that is something like +13 warm water so pretty chilly..but looks so tempting with the water's turquoise colour and with lots of trouts swimming there...what a paradise! So here we are by the river ready to go there...finally me and Joonas manage to dive there so mission accomplished..see the videos below!
Soca cocktail or something like that from the hotel ....the colour is pretty much like the river. :D

Okay time to pack the bags and head back to the festival area from where we will be taken to the airport of Venice at 1.30 at night. First thing we see when we arrive is Chris from Alestorm walking with "stereo beers" in his hands and we rush to say to the guy! Then inside the vip area we find all the other dudes of Malestorm and with their tour manager Stijn and it's great to see him again as well after the tour we did with Sabaton and Alestorm in the previous autumn. Of course Wintersun guys are there as well to get some beer in their bellies...so party on! We see few bands like Blind Guardian and In Extremo that night and also greet to our Power of Metal tour mates from Mercenary who are keeping the metal party going at the main stage after the headliner Blind Guardian have finished. We talk something more with our record label's guys and finally end up to the beach bar with Winterun guys. I think Vili and Lasse went to see for few songs from Alestorm as we others were at the beach. Time ran fast and so it came to say goodbyes again as our festival shuttle was about to take off to the airport.
Let the terrible and long travel back home begin!
Hey next weekend it's Tuska festival in Helsinki, Finland ...me, Emil and Joonas should go there to greet the guys from Hell with whom we did the Metalfest tour together with Wintersun...who will be playing at Tuska as well on friday! So if anyone's coming ...come to say hi! Maybe on Saturday should check out Merging Flare at Tuska's after party in Dom. We will see...
Okay take care everyone and more news to follow in the coming days/weeks!

Wednesday, July 13 (travel day)
Hi folks! It's Vili writing this time, sitting in a shuttle bus with the
rest of the guys (sans Michele, who will be joining us tomorrow) on our way
from Venice, Italy to Tolmin. Still a hundred kilometers or so to go: Emppu's
playing Angry Birds, Lasse's listening to music and the rest of the guys are
just enjoying the scenery - beautiful Italian/Slovenian countryside. We took
off from Helsinki, Finland early afternoon and flew to Venice via Munich.
Almost contrary to all the odds and possibilities, our gear (neatly strapped
together with sticky plastic sheets and duct tape - highly NOT recommended...)
got here as well!
Tonight's gonna be an easy one, after signing in the hotel we're probably
gonna check out the festival grounds and watch Wintersun and Mastodon's
gigs. Maybe even little partying involved, since we're on at 6:35 PM tomorrow
evening with a signing session afterwards. And of course there's some tending
to the instruments to do... changing strings, programming the final keyboard
sounds for the new song, etc. Gonna doze off now for an hour or so...
------
Well, we got safely to our hotel (really nice place called Penzion Boka in
Srpenica, near the breathtaking Boka waterfall) later that evening and boy,
were we tired. Would have loved to see Wintersun et al performing, but
simply didn't have the energy (and after all, staying up all night would
certainly have not done any good for the show next day), so we just had
dinner and a few drinks and an evening walk. On top of everything, I noticed
late in the night that I had misplaced my laptop charger while packing my
stuff back home in Finland, so we had no real change of updating this blog
on the road as intended... luckily Michele could lend me his charger the
next day for the show and a little hotel room rehearsal :)
Signing off,
/v

NUMMIROCK 2011
The last rehearsels played before midsummer festival Nummirock at Kauhajoki, Finland! First time playing there....hohoo some nice memories from there over many years when in the audience at Nummirock... Sucks that weather forecast looks pretty fuckin rainy but I'm sure it will not slow anyone down!
I'm actually the only one from the band who is going to the festival area already on Friday morning...Vili will pick up Michele on Saturday morning from Helsinki/Vantaa airport and other guys don't wanna be there earlier but on the show day ...since it might turn somehow into some serious drinking... :D well...even in Nummirock I think I've once seen someone drunk... Anyway afterparties like never before when the Fosters-stage is rocked!!!
Okay stay tuned for more....pics and comments on the show coming later! Oh fuck looking so forward to this fantastic festival again!!! There's no festival like Nummirock!
See you soon boys and girls and happy midsummer fest / Hauskaa Juhannusta joka ukolle ja akalle!

Metalfest 2011
Hi headbangers!
It's Pasi from Thaurorod writing. It wasn't so easy to update this blog on the road so now something to it!
It's been less than 3 days since we arrived to Finland from Metalfests...damn that was one hell of a trip! Great locations, great audiences, great atmosphere, great weather, great bands, great guys with whom we shared the tourbus...amazing festivals!!!
The bus arrived to Düsseldorf airport to pick us up in the early evening and we entered the great black doubledecker nightliner and said hi to a nice driver. Soon after Wintersun guys stepped in and it didn't take long to start chatting and having few beers with them. Then we parked a car somewhere in Düsseldorf cause we had to wait for Hell's flight to arrive. Meanwhile we had some more beers with Wintersun and the driver didn't let Finnish passengers to run out of beer! :D Soon the guys from Hell were picked up from the airport. Then the nice gentlemen of Hell sat down with us for few beers and the bus hit the road towards Switzerland! I also accomplished my first goal on the tour...the last Finnish man standing! :D
In Switzerland we played indoor show inside Z7 in Pratteln and it was a great one...also the weather wasn't too great outside so indoor show didn't hurt! The bus took off at 11 so we had no time to see the headliner Arch Enemy this night but the shows of the bands in the same bus were both great.. HELL was just awesome! The way that these guys rocked and made a show was fantastic and I had no idea of this band before...now gonna get the album for sure! Wintersun played also awesome show and there was one new track from the upcoming album on the setlist!
After some partying in the bus we went to sleep and woke up in Germany. Started to get ready for the show pretty soon and rocked Metalfest Germany full steam! It must have been one of the best audiences ever..people singing along to the songs and the atmosphere was just magical and crazy! We met some guys from the record company and had fun in the backstage area. Was great to meet some awesome fans at the signing session as well! What a great day it was! I think I went to sleep a bit before the bus left 'cause we were to play at 12.50 in Austria next day.

Woked up and went to have breakfest and coffee with Vili. Was fuckin muddy there 'cause it had been raining the last 3 days almost all the time everything was pretty dirty and muddy...however the sun was shining now and it was a hot day! After the breakfest I went to say hi to a good friend of mine to the audience's camping area and after that started to get my things together for the show! The stage was ...big enough being 22 meters wide! Great place and great day to play! Okay got everything ready for the show and the intro started! Funnily enough there was nothing coming into Joonas's in-ear monitors...and all the suddenly there was something fuckin loud...the playing over the 1st 2 songs wasn't the tightest ever but we managed to have fun on the stage and audience seemed to love it as well! Well there was more to come some technical difficulties as the bass started to sound like a fart...it was quite loud between the songs and I tried to change my wireless to a normal cable but didn't solve the problem...then we had some monstrous subwoofer feedback in the end part of the show and we just laughed that WHAT ELSE?!? :D Was starting to get kinda funny already but it was a nice show...probably would have been whole lot better if there wouldn't have been such catastrophic technical difficulties but there's nothing you can do except to ROCK the stage so what the hell!!!

After the show we had fun with everyone in there... ate well and we did drink quite okay as well. :D I had started to feel a bit hangoverish after the show so I decided to go to sleep right after the bus would take off...did I?? Well there was just everyone having such blast together that of course I had to join with them! Damn it was fun and as people were getting nicely drunk suddenly Raivotautinen Paviaani Magnus Muna was there with Black Metal Zorro...anyway somewhere in the early morning I went to bed and woke up at Düsseldorf airport..was gonna be a long day at the airports and in the airplanes but we made it ...DEADTIRED!
Anyway the whole weekend was one of the best days of my life!!!

Düsseldorf, getting ready to rumble...
...in a multinational enterprise coffee house, sipping a tall mocha and downloading + reviewing all the vital information about the upcoming three shows. Emppu, Lasse and Joonas are checking out a local Irish pub while I and Pasi opted for a coffee and a brief, little less rock'n'roll-lifestylish tour blog update instead. Michele will join us tomorrow in Pratteln, Switzerland for the first gig and travel with us from then on.
After having the afternoon off, we'll be heading back to the airport soon to meet the WINTERSUN guys and to get aboard the tour bus. Probably dinner afterwards, definitely a long drive all night ahead (after picking up the gentlemen from the legendary HELL)! Hoping to be able to update this blog soon again,

013, Tilburg
All the 5 bands of POM on stage right before the last song of Symphony X, the last song of Power of Metal 2011.
Hoy,
So the POWER OF METAL tour 2011 have come to an end but it sure was fun!
Anyway a show in Tilburg was a perfect ending for this outstanding tour.. we played deffinitely one of the best shows of the tour there and the audience was amazing as the audience in The Netherlands always!
As some bands tend to do some little pranks for each others on the last show of the tour we decided also to come out with some kind of prank for a headliner Symphony X. We happened to find from some cheap market in Frankfurt ...red devil thongs for men... :D So me, Lasse and Joonas bought those! Then we decided to wait until Symphony X ballad song Paradise Lost was on in 013, Tilburg and surprise the guys with rushing onto the stage wearing nothing but those thongs...heh was kinda fun..I mean not wearing them but the rest :D:D:D
See a YouTube video from a linkbelow:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28vgx5WTKTA
We also met 3 guys from ALESTORM there at the venue as they had come to see us there 'cause they live in Tilburg. So we had fun with them and POM folks...finally after several beers we said goodbyes for everyone and the bus took us to the Düsseldorf airport for the flight back home..So here we are in Finland again..it's getting spring here too but damn I did not miss the snow 'cause the snow haven't gone anywhere yet..well soon it must as the spring and summer comes to the picture with some outdoor festivals like Metalfests(Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Nummirock, Metalcamp...So see you there!
Okay, stay tuned for some more news which will follow in few days about a lot of things!!! Rock'n Roll boys and girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geiselwind - Tilburg
Getting very close to the end folks! So here we are in Tilburg at a venue called 013 and in 4 hours we will play our last show on Power of Metal tour 2011! Kind of sad now as it ends but hell yea it has been one great experience and have been awesome to get to know all these dudes we tour with! Thank you SYMPHONY X, NEVERMORE, PSYCHOTIC WALTZ, MERCENARY and the tour crew. Thank you all the CRAZY AUDIENCES! Thank you everyone!
Yesterday we played a show at Music Hall, Geiselwind! Had a crazy audience and played a great show! Damn it was cold weather in Geiselwind...well I guess it's good to get used to it as we are back to Finland tomorrow!
Okay then...I'll drop a line later on after our show in Tilburg and after getting back to Finland and hopefully there will be a few more pics in the blog!
Cheers,
Pasi

Greetings from a stranger?
Hello dudes!
Some of you guys maybe have been wondering where the fuck is Emmi? Well... How the hell I should know? But I know that I'm kinda replacing her and doing this tour with these badass guys. Our singer have been introducing me as Mika Häkkinen but suprise suprise.. I'm not a fucking Häkkinen. My name's Mika Karjalainen and I play in a band called Whispered. You all should go to check it out RIGHT NOW: www.whisperedband.com
What can I tell you about the tour? It has been a pleasure to be part of this. Venues have been great and the audiences as well. Not to mention about the other bands and crew! These Thaurorod guys can really play I can tell you that and are fun to hang out with. Like one dude here said "these Thaurorod dudes are fucking vikings man!! They out drink us all and still rock every night". So.. it's been great!
Right now we're in Amsterdam. We had our show few hours ago and it was great even though somebody threw few bananas to the stage but what the hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDnJ_AnVxZE part 2:33)?!?! We threw them back and rocked the guys cock off! Anyway Thaurorod had some banana humour in the end of their music video "Warrior's Heart" so that was kinda fun to have a few bananas onto stage. Very nice suprise also waited us in the morning when we came here... and now I'm not talking about when Emppu got lost in the city and missed the soundcheck... But there was a piano in the catering room! So what about a little bar piano music for the breakfast??? Hell yeah!
Now I think it's time to go explore the city! See ya tomorrow in Geiselwind!
-Mika

Day off - Frankfurt, Batschkapp
Was great to play in Hungaria for the first time and I think we did pretty damn good show. The most important thing however is that audience liked it and we had some great time on stage! Hope to be there soon again!
From Budapest to Münich to spend a nice relaxing day off... yea right..hell no! Our bus got broken somewhere before Salzburg and so the bus needed to be taken to bus service place where they were able to fix the problem what ever it was! I think we spent few hours at the repair station and most of the guys just laid in their bunks while that..well surely also 'cause some of the guys made a new record in drinking the longest as the "last man standing" went to sleep around 9.30 in the previous morning...what? Thaurorod guys? oh yea!! Anyway we drove a test drive and everything was fine with the bus..then back to road again and arrived to Münich at 18.30 in the evening. Everybody rushed into the city to get something to eat 'cause people were fuckin starving after such long time trapped in the bus where of course was nothing to eat. So I had a nice barbacue mix plate in some nice steak restaurant. Then we went to say hi to Joonas and Lasse to an Irish pub but it was so fucking packed cause there was a soccer game Bayern München - Inter Milan just about to start. So me and Mika didn't stay for a beer but went for a little walk and then back to bus...a strange day ..a day totally OFF!
Arrived to Frankfurt, Batschkapp had some breakfest, and loaded everything into the venue. Now some sightseeing before the soundcheck! See you guys!

Petoefi Hall, Budapest
Was great show yesterday at Komma, Wörgl! In the beginning not many people there but it got better and better till the end of the show. We played at 18.10 even though the posters said starting from 19.00 so don't know why it was changed. Anyway was probably the best show so far and audience liked it and damn it was fun on stage!
Arrived to Budapest this morning and it must be the warmest day on tour so far...don't know the temperature but I'm wearing a t-shirt and still it's hot! We took a little walk to Heroes' Square which is not too far from the venue. Would have been nice to walk all the way to the river but unfortunately not enough time before the soundcheck.
From the Heroes' Square
Venue is on the pest side of the river and it is great and big(Petoefi Hall) capacity of 2500 people... lets hope there will be a lot of people!!! We had great stagesounds in soundcheck so less than two hours till rocking the hell out of Petoefi Hall!!! See you soon!

Day off in Münich and then to Slovenia
Öhh, feeling quite sick with runny nose and sore throat etc.. think quite many people are more or less sick on this tour but it's okay and normal I guess...
So yesterday we were in Munich and guess what? ...we found an another irish bar where we spent few hours listening to an irish band and drinking some cidre and beer... had fun! Luckily I'm not having an hangover at oll but rest of the guys besides Michele haven't even woken up yet so I guess they feel a bit more hangoverish.. :D
Our tour bus!
Pretty weird looking triangle shaped stage here but it looks okay! So I'll go have a look at the guys if they are still alive and...what the hell! Rock on! See u in Ljubljana, Cvetlicarna tonight!!!
