Feeling so tired and smoked but damn was it a great weekend shooting the music video!!! Can't wait to see the final result!

OVERBOARD - Music Video Shootings Part 1

Hello everyone!

Here we are finally shooting our new music video from our upcoming album Anteinferno! The song that we picked for music video is Overboard track 3 from the album.

So far we have shot acting scenes by the sea in Helsinki and yes it was freezing and now we are in the horse stable where we have set up everything for playing scenes that we start shooting in few moments!

STUDIO DIARY – DAY 50-60 (Emil's lead guitars and solos)

Hi everyone!

Sorry for a long silence in updating this blog...

We have now all the guitar solos and lead guitars recorded as well as all the keyboards. Almost all the orhestrations are ready!

We already took rest of the keyboards and some additional tracks to the final mixing and rest of the recorded tracks we take to the mixing next week and in the coming days the solos and other leads and melodies are mixed on the basic tracks...then we just gonna need to go thru if there is anything to be fixed before we start the mastering. Hope we have everything ready on August-September!!!

Meanwhile we gonna take new promoshots which are the very first promoshots with this killer line-up!

STUDIO DIARY – DAY 35-40 (Lasse's lead guitars and solos)

Hi there!

Finally some update from the recordings of THAUROROD's next studio album. We have now all the Lasse's guitars...solos and lead/melody parts recorded. Harri has recorded nearly all his keyboards. Orchestrations are being done from this week on. Also Emil has started the recordings of his solos and lead parts few days ago.

So we aim to finish all the recordings during the beginning of June and take the tracks for the final mixing session where the songs will be polished to sound motherfucking kick ass metal!!! Hope to finish with the very final and mastered album somewhere between June and July.

STUDIO DIARY – DAY 31-35 (Mixing - Part 1)

Hello there!

Last week was the first part of the mixing of our upcoming album! We had drums, bass, rhythm guitars, basic keyboards and all the vocals mixed at D-Studio (http://www.d-studio.fi/). All I can say at this point is that the songs just sounds awesome and so powerful...drums kick like hell and sounds massive, bass got very aggressive sound and sounds just insane, guitars full of balls...but still clear and crunchy. All this has insanely awesome keyboards and vocals full of mind blowing harmonies mixed on top of it.

Now we still have all the lead guitars and solos, orchestrations and additional keyboards + all the small little addings that we gonna record next...

STUDIO DIARY – DAY 26, 27 & 28 (Keyboard recordings part 1)

It's Haage, the keyboard maestro himself writing here and this is my first time ever writing to this blog so please be gentle with me. As you might have noticed from the last few posts we're doing great with the album recordings! Now it's my turn to let you people know how the keyboard-, or like Mr Blastbeat Producer (also known as Lasse or Scatman) might say, gayboard-recordings are going.

I prepared myself for this god forsaken task by drinking heavily four days in a row, modeling for S&M-photoshootings, wandering aimlessly in the snow wearing a straitjacket and all that kind of routine stuff that I like to do before recording anything. I think that this kind of routine is a necessary thing to do to get my mind in the proper state for being able to do my part for this kick-ass powermetal album.

I've been recording the basic keyboard parts for a few days now and things are going really well. About 1/3 of the songs are ready and I'm quite satisfied with the sounds so far. I started with the songs that are worktitled as "Shakaalin Kaali Ikaalisissa" and "Chase". The first evening went mainly by searching the proper sounds that would fit perfectly to this epic masterpiece.

Oh, and for the perverts out there who are interested in what keyboards I'm using for these sessions; Yamaha Motif ES and Korg TR.

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 24 & 25 (Rhythm guitar recordings)

Hey there boys and girls!

So now we are finally done with the rhythm guitars! Yesterday and the day before we managed to nail the final track's which were "Ride the Ray'O" and "Gaffercapercaillie", EPIC SHIT! Loads of killer riffs, mighty choruses and just pure epicness, that's what these massive mammoths are about!
Now it's time for me and Emppu to create solos, leads, licks and tricks so you won't hear from us two for a while, but our gayboardwizard Haage will take it from here!

And btw, everyone should buy the Gloryhammer album "Tales From The Kingdom Of Fife"!

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 22 & 23 (Rhythm guitar recordings)

Hello again!

Almost there, only two songs left and then we're done with the rhythm guitars!
So yesterday and the day before we managed to complete two tracks "Chase" and "SCAT
We didn't do any major changes since the demos, but a few small tricks here and there to spice these tracks up!
As I already told you guys about "Chase" in the last blog, so here's something about "SCAT".
It's really a different kinda tune for us, pretty slow and heavy stuff with great atmospehere.
But now it's time to have a few days off and we'll continue next week with some EPIC shit!

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 21 (Rhythm guitar recordings)

Hello boys and girls!

It's been a while since I have written to this blog and loads of awesomeness is and has been happening.
So we are now recording rhythm guitars and Emppu has already done his parts and I still have four more songs to go! Yesterday we did track called "The land of thousand ray's" (obviously not the real title of the track) and today we are working on track called "Chase"(Not the real title either).
Both of these songs are pretty up-tempo stuff with really catchy choruses.
"Chase" is pretty traditional Power Metal stuff and "The land of..." is bit more modern stuff, a bit heavier.
So today we shall continue and hopefully everything will be going as well as so far!

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 20 (Rhythm guitar / vocal recordings)

Hi metalheads!

Time for some update as the beginning of the mixing is getting closer...

So Lasse is recording his rhythm parts and something like 4 songs to go...Lasse should update something here in the coming days!

Today Andi finished all the vocals for the album with everything fixed and polished into perfection!!! Awesome vocals. Just fuckin awesome!

So it's now 2 weeks and the mixing starts (8th April). We will first mix drums, bass, rhythm guitars, all vocals and basic keyboards. Then we will record everything else and lay down orcestrations etc. and mix the remaining tracks asap.

STUDIO DIARY - DAY ...19 (Rhythm guitar / vocal recordings)

Ciao!

So finally yesterday we were able to start with Emppu's rhythm guitar recordings! So far 2 songs recorded and 3rd on its way... After that Lasse's rhythm guitars will follow.

Also Andi have now recorded initial vocals for 8 songs and he's gonna finish with remaining 2 songs propably next week. After that we start polishing the vocals and gonna finalize them one by one...some small changes and adjustments in melodies, rhythms and lyrics.

No videos, no pics, no more to say at this point. We hope to release another studio diary video or videos next week from the guitar and vocal recordings so take care 'till then and have a tremendous weekend everyone!

STUDIO DIARY (Update)

Hello everyone!

Things going on with the album but not totally without misfortunes. We are still on hold with rhythm guitar recordings. They were suppose to take place at my home studio starting from Lasse but then we decided that Emppu will record everything at his place as his audio interface's mic preamps and DA-converters should be slightly better. Well a little while ago there was water pipe damage at Emppu's home and all the floors got totally covered with water. It will be repaired which will last for about 6 months and Emppu will move to a temporary rent appartment meanwhile.

Now we either start the guitar recordings at Emppu's temporary appartment where he would set up his home studio or we will take part of Emppu's studio to my home where we start the rhythm guitar recordings. This will not affect in anyway on the release date as the summer is coming and the release most likely won't be during the festival season...

Anyway meanwhile there is a lot of other things to do that I'm constantly working on. Right now I'm creating an intro track for a title song of the album which will be epic audio landscape with some sounds of wind, fire etc. and emerging into a speaking part with 2 voice actors...the other being Andi. ...then we have some acoustic guitars to record, refining vocals with Andi as well as some other sound effects to be recorded...gonna be blast and can't wait for you to hear them!

Finally got the final drum edits yesterday and finished with the very last bass corrections etc...

Today we will move the studio equipment to my place and start searching for a guitar sound and recordings should start in few days. We will start with Lasse's rhythm guitars...

Hohoy everybody!

Just finished the bass guitars for the last song! Came back home from vacation in Salla, Lapland few days ago and have been recording during 3 evenings after that.

So now we'll go through the songs with the guys and make the last changes on the tracks if needed. Then we are ready to start moving on guitars! Gonna start by recording Lasse's rhythm guitars at my place probably somewhere in the end of next week.

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 11 (Bass recordings)

Good evening ladies and gentlemen!

Oh what a day it's been... first thing in the morning...no not breakfast...well 1/2 cup of coffey and then rushing to pick up few friends and off to downhill skiing for 2 hours! Btw that was the 2nd time of my life and the 1st for about 20 years so wasn't exactly professional but it was okay and we had lots of fun!

After skiing we went to eat and a quick visit to home and then off to record some more bass. Just came back home from the recordings. Finished that long epic track and after that recorded 1 Emppu's song and 1 more my song till the solo parts. Pretty happy with today's recordings!

Gonna continue tomorrow...probably around midday and then continue in the evening again after a little break. Hope to have at least half of the songs recorded tomorrow!

STUDIO DIARY - DAY 9 & 10 (Bass recordings)

Hi there!

So we fixed the problem with monitoring Haage few days ago...it wasn't in sound card but somehow the default output settings of Pro Tools 9 were wrong and they had to be changed so it worked.

Yesterday I changed few xlr cables and tuned new Elixir strings on my bass and also made few more changes on the bass sound. Just made the cabinet sound a bit more distorted and took out some bass frequensy while adding treble frequency. Should work really well with the mixed line sound! Then I recorded 1 track and call it a day...

Another day after work by bass recordings. I actually had some problem with monitoring yesterday so I wanted to try fix it and it turned out there is some latency as I need to use asio 4 all driver as my sound card's own driver don't work with Pro Tools. Well I just had to take the monitoring straight from the sound card by turning a knob so that it gives me more input than it gives playback and then have to lower the volumes of bass tracks on Pro Tools. Well not too complicated...I can live with that...and maybe we can bring down the latency as well later.

Time to start recording our longest track of the album...about 8 minutes long epic shit! Also title song for the album... I record it to some solo parts and then decide to write something on a blog andcontinue tomorrow as I should have more time and energy...maybe 1 cold beer and pretty soon off to bed.
